TV Technology Innovator Don Gordon Named CTO, SVP Engineering of ICTV®

LOS GATOS, CA – March 6, 2006 – ICTV®, creator of HeadendWare®, the most powerful platform for the delivery and distribution of interactive television programming, today announced that Don Gordon, a leader in advanced television development, has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering.

Gordon, an expert in both IP and cable television delivery systems, is named on 26 patents dealing with MPEG video and network-based interactive services. He joins ICTV after 11 years with Microsoft Corporation and DIVA Systems, and will be responsible for the continued development of the company’s solutions for real-time digital video manipulation, and creation and delivery of Web-powered programming channels to television.

“As viewers and advertisers become accustomed to the choice and control of broadband video, network operators are seeking to enhance their on-demand offerings to provide the same functionality within the superior video environment of television,” said Jeff Miller, president and CEO of ICTV. “Don Gordon’s expertise in cost-effectively manipulating MPEG streams within the digital domain, his background in network-based interactive programming and his understanding of the cable and IPTV industries all will be tremendous assets as we create products and solutions that blend the functionality and diversity of the Web and live television into a unified, interactive viewing experience.”

“The increased availability of video via broadband connections creates both a threat to and an opportunity for the established business models of the television industry,” said Gordon. “ICTV’s technology enables network operators to deliver the personalized video experience viewers have become accustomed to on the Web with the quality of service that only a managed network can provide. This capability will enable all of the traditional video stakeholders – network operators, programmers and advertisers – to profit from this changing environment.”

Most recently director of software architectures for Microsoft TV, Gordon led the company’s involvement in cable’s Next Generation Network Architecture initiative and was instrumental in the negotiations that led to the selection of Microsoft TV as the software platform for Verizon’s FIOS TV service. Previously, Gordon was the first employee of DIVA Systems, where he served in various technical and marketing capacities before being named general manager and vice president, broadcast products division. During his 1995-2001 stint with DIVA, Gordon was responsible for developing the company’s intellectual property portfolio of more than 70 pending and issued patents.

Gordon began his career in 1980 as a senior software engineer and systems administrator with Lockheed Corporation’s Missiles & Space Division. From 1984-88 he was principal of the Gordon Group, which developed software for the entertainment and defense industries. Gordon served as director of program management for Ericsson before joining DIVA in 1995.

Gordon holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.S. in Cybernetic Systems from San Jose State University.
